Broadway’s Babies provides arts education, creating a bridge between the Broadway community and underserved youth, to open the doors through which future leaders can emerge.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Arts education is a powerful tool in the development of soft skills such as healthy communication, self-worth, self-discipline, teamwork, creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.
A mastery of these soft skills produces clear, powerful, and responsible voices.
No one is too poor, too sick, or too oppressed to have the chance to find their voice.
Empowering the fully-realized, fully-expressed voices of the underprivileged can change the world.
WHAT WE DO
We provide consistent and cumulative programming led by teaching artists from within the communities we serve, partnering with administrators on the ground to create curricula that cater to the unique needs of each program.
Ben Houghton and Katy Pfaffl met teaching in India at The Shanti Bhavan Children's Project in the Fall of 2015. Moved by their shared experience, they returned home and joined forces to create Broadway's Babies. What began as a concert series put on by their friends to raise money to keep a teacher on the ground at Shanti Bhavan year-round has turned into a full-fledged mission to bring arts education to underserved youth around the world.
