Do you have a passion for travel, adventure, and creating a better world? Broadway’s Babies seeks music educators, specifically piano instructors, to lead the music program at the Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project in Tamil-Nadu, India. The Fellow will teach and assist general music classes for elementary school aged children, private piano lessons for middle and high school aged children, and accompany the school choir. The Teaching Fellow will work with the Broadway’s Babies and Shanti Bhavan administration to create and produce curriculum, evaluations, and concerts, and to assist in program administration and special projects. We offer 3 Fellowships per year beginning in June, September, and January of each school year. We offer a monthly stipend reflective of the teacher pay-rate in India and cover all travel and visa fees to and from India. The Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project provides room and board during the Fellow’s stay. The Fellow will be supported by a part-time local teacher on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Shanti Bhavan graduates who teach lessons on Saturdays. We value process-oriented (rather than product-oriented) teaching methods that focus on the development of soft skills and creatively reinforce the lessons and skills being taught in academic classes.
